Key Verses ![]() | And now I stand here to be tried because of the hope I have in the promise that God made to our ancestors— the very thing that the twelve tribes of our people hope to receive as they worship God day and night. And it is because of this hope, Your Majesty, that I am being accused by these Jews! Acts 26: 6-7 There are times in life when a one-time opportunity comes and, if not identified and taken, may result in consequences that could last a lifetime. The word of God encourages us to give thanks in all things indicating that no matter how terrible things are, they can get worse. Apparently, in the face of diverse challenges, there are opportunities. In the passage above, Paul was confronting accusations brought by those he could consider as old friends of the past. He has been brought before the governor to defend himself against unfounded allegations by some Jews backed and sponsored by the Chief Priest. In presenting his defense, Paul took advantage of king Agrippa’s visit, praising him and acknowledging his verse knowledge of the Jewish culture and tradition. He shared how he had collaborated with the Chief priest in the past. Most importantly, he took the time to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with the king and the influential at the trial. A rare opportunity that has come with a tribulation capable of costing him his life. There will be problems and circumstances beyond our control as we journey through life as believers. Knowing that the scriptures cannot be broken and the promises of God are yeah and amen will always keep the door of opportunity open when all seems about to fail. In Romans 8: 28, - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose, the word of God promises that at the end, the goodness of God will prevail over unwarranted, unpredictable, and uncontrollable challenges of life. Whatever the situation, take the time to explore the promises of God that hold the key to the opportunity that comes with each circumstance. |
